Chapter Nineteen
It was almost two weeks since their date on the yacht. Eleven days, to be exact, and Cam was finding it difficult to keep herself busy while Michelle was away working.
In the short time they had known each other, Cam had found herself becoming more and more contented with the way their relationship was heading. They hadn’t had any conversations with regard to where it would lead, nor had they put any labels on themselves, but from the moment they had met each other, Cam had felt touched by something much more than a fling, and she missed the intimacy of not being physically present with Michelle for such a long period.
They had spent a lot of time talking on the phone, as well as sending text messages and emails almost every hour when possible, but it wasn’t the same as being able to actually touch each other. The closeness and tenderness with which they had become so quickly accustomed had become something she now craved. They felt closer though, sharing things with each other they might have otherwise been too shy to say face to face.
With Medical Diaries returning to the small screen in the next month, Michelle had got stuck with some last-minute interviews because, although she had filmed all the episodes she was starring in for this season, the cast still had to spend time doing interviews and promos for the upcoming season starter. She was up and down the country with some of the other cast members promoting it before going straight back into filming for the following season. It was non-stop right now.
Cam had managed to catch her several times on morning TV and even caught some of the afternoon chat shows from her office. It was like a cruel gift. On the one hand, she got to see her lover every day; but on the other, she couldn’t just reach out and touch her.
She was breathtakingly beautiful, but Cam could tell she was tired. She still answered every question with a smile. She was funny and engaging – the audiences loved her.
Cam, on the other hand, had nothing much to do, so she used this time to do some organizing. She sorted her wardrobe, twice! She had never noticed just how many clothes she had accumulated over the past year or two. Seriously, who needed fourteen white t-shirts?
She spent a few afternoons at the club going through all her paperwork, and that was the dullest thing she had ever done in her life. The only exciting thing to happen was she bought a share in a vineyard in northern Cali and an apartment in Paris.
“Why are you moping around the house and getting under my feet?” Maria asked, as she went about her work that morning.
“Probably because I live here?” Cam replied. With a teasing smile she added, “And I like getting under your feet.”
“Well then make yourself useful and fold these towels,” she threw back, along with a basket of clean towelling that had just come out of the dryer and was still warm.
